John Petty was born in El Campo, Texas and is a 1982 graduate of Texas State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance. After brief employment in banking, John began his real estate career. Along with real estate brokerage, John Petty has extensive experience in complex transactions, including multiple sellers, land development, family partitions, divorces, limited partnerships, pipeline damages, water rights and land valuations. John has been involved in the cattle/horse business all his life and is a member of Texas and South Texas Cattle Raisers Association.

The John Petty team consists of a full service real estate brokerage company, where John heads up the farm, ranch, and commercial division.

John has sold row crop farms, rice farms, cattle ranches and recreational property, including improved high-fenced and waterfowl hunting properties throughout the state of Texas and is an avid hunter.
